Kimberly High School cancels July 22 in-person graduation

Principal Jackie DePeau announced last week to students and families that Kimberly High School has cancelled the planned July 22 in-person graduation ceremony.

The school held a virtual ceremony on June 3 and tentatively scheduled an in-person ceremony for July 22 if the area was in Phase 3 of the Badger Bounce Back Plan by July 10.

“Based upon the most recent regional data and trends as well as continued conversations with local and state health officials, our community and county have not met that criteria,” DePeau wrote in a letter. “This is an incredibly difficult decision to make, and I know it is a difficult decision to accept. The health and safety of our graduates, families, and community is top priority, and bringing together a large group of people at this time is not the responsible or appropriate decision.”
