Kaukauna Orange goes 1-1 on week, moves to 3-2 overall

The Kaukauna Orange team went 1-1 last week, moving its overall record to 3-2 after a 5-0 win on the road at Appleton East Blue last Monday and then a 7-3 loss at home to Oshkosh White at Bayorgeon Field the following evening.

At Appleton East Blue

Kaukauna scored one run in the top of the first and never looked back, adding four more in the final inning and getting a dominant performance on the mound from starter Jordan Skenandore and reliever Zander Hietpas.

Skenandore started and went five earnings to earn the win, allowing just four hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Hietpas came on in relief and allowed just one hit over the final two innings.

Skenandore and Brett Sprangers each had two hits to lead the way for Kaukauna offensively, while Kolbe Pike had a two-RBI home run in the top of the seventh. Pike also walked twice and scored a run.

Carter Steineke and Jacob Brockman each added a hit for Kaukauna.

Versus Oshkosh White

After responding with a run in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game at one, the wheels fell off in the field for Kaukauna.

Kaden Johnson-Garcia started and lasted just 1 2/3 innings, allowing six runs, but none of them earned. Sprangers threw an inning and a third, while David Vande Hey tossed the final inning with two strikeouts.

Skenandore had a double and scored a run at the plate, while Brockman had a hit and an RBI as well for Kaukauna.

The team played at home against Neenah on Monday night and then played on the road at Oshkosh Blue last night. The final game of the regular summer season is on Friday at Pulaski before the 18U tournament is scheduled for next week beginning on Tuesday.
