Scott Specht

"Boomer"

Scott Specht - “Boomer” - It’s with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Scott “Boomer” Specht on Dec. 29, 2020, at his home in Pittsburgh, Pa. He was born on April 3, 1980, to Sharon and the late Bruce Specht. Scott got his nickname when he was a baby, growing up in Kaukauna it didn’t take long to make his mark as Boomer to everyone he met, young and old. Boomer loved people and with his outgoing personality and great sense of humor, it wasn’t long for you to love him too. Boomer graduated from Kaukauna High School where he drove a few teachers crazy with his antics. He went on to UW-Stevens Point where he spent a semester in Poland, getting him excited about seeing the world. Boomer graduated with honors with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Political Science. Being adventurous kept Boomer from starting a career after graduation. An invitation from a college friend took him to St. Thomas Virgin Islands for some fun in the sun. This is where his great love for the beautiful blue seas began, earning a living on parasail boats. Boomer met Robi Ruane from Pittsburgh and they had a son Jaxon. Being like his daddy, he was swimming in the ocean early in his life. Deciding the island wasn’t a good place to raise Jaxon they moved back to the states where Boomer earned his captain’s license. After moving to Pittsburgh on Three Rivers, he captained a barge, tour boat and water taxi. Becoming well-known in the boating industry, Boomer got contacted to captain parasail boats all over the United States. Sadly this took Boomer from his little family to work on various coasts for the three-month water sports season. While working on the water, Boomer found his peace and love for the vast, God-given waters and the creatures that lived there. Boomer loved his son Jaxon more than anything. He was so proud of the young man he’d become and always tried to be there and support him. Even though his career as a sea captain took him away to many different shores, he was always anxious to get back to Jaxon after the season was over. Boomer is survived by his son: Jaxon Specht, and Jaxon’s mother: Robi Ruane of Pittsburgh. He is the sweet son of Sharon and the late Bruce Specht. He is further survived by a brother: Brad (Jessie) Specht and their children: Ty, AJ and Jacob; brother: Colin (Beth) Specht and their children: Henry and Kate; aunts and uncles: Karla (Lee) Blair, Pam (Dave) Mason; cousins: Kerri (Dan) Vanderloop, Bryan (Kate) Blair, Ed (Jill) Mason and Andy Mason; numerous other relatives and many, many friends. In addition to his dad, Boomer was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Bob and Valoise Specht and his maternal grandparents, George and Olga Wynboom. A private memorial service will be held at St. Katharine Drexel Parish-St. Mary Site. For those unable to attend the service, it will be live streamed. Please contact Sharon for more information on the live stream. There will be a celebration of Boomer’s life at a later date this summer. Memorial donations may be made to Boomers family for the benefit of Jaxon and his education. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com. My Dear Son, your long fought battle with mental illness and addictions are over. May you rest in the loving arms of your savior and those who have gone before you. Finally, Peaceful Waters.
