"Carp"

Clayton H. Vanden Broek - “Carp” - Age 90, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021, at home. Carp was born on Sept. 5, 1930. to Henry and Mary (Schaefer) Vanden Broek. He was a Korean War veteran. In 1969 he was united in marriage to his one and only love Pat Mitchell. And lovingly adopted and raised her children as his own. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He loved birds of all kinds and he and his wife have observed the eagles since the very first set arrived in Kaukauna. He was an avid Packer fan and held season tickets since they opened the stadium in Green Bay. He and his wife were bestowed volunteer of the year awards and were lifetime members of the 1000 Islands Environmental Center. He was instrumental in establishing the Sugar Shack to improve maple syrup making at the center. After coming home from the Army, Carp worked as a pressman at The Kaukauna Times and after retirement lived summers and did groundwork at the Evergreen Campground in Wild Rose. Carp was a member of American Legion Post #258, and the NRA. Carp was preceded in death by his parents and his wife and is survived by two children: Annette (Alberto) Rubiano, Mitchell (Marcie) Vanden Broek, and his only grandson: Henry Lee Vanden Broek, as well as other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at the VERKUILEN VANDEURZEN FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna, on Saturday, April 3, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. and services at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be expressed at www.verkuilenfh.com. Please donate to your favorite charity in Carp's name in lieu of flowers or money.
