"Bill"

William Nickolas Vander Loop - “Bill” - Age 89, passed away peacefully at his home on Dec. 28, 2021. He lived a fulfilling life as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Bill graduated from St. John grade school and high school in Little Chute. He excelled in sports and passed that love to his kids and grandkids where he was their No. 1 fan. In 1957, he was united in marriage to Joyce Killian until her death in 1999. Bill lived a complete and extremely active life. He worked for 38 years as a wood yard supervisor for the former Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company in Kaukauna. He was a member of the Kaukauna Credit Union board for 30 years, the Kaukauna Utilities Commission for 18 years, the Moose Club, and the Lions Club International. He was a Korean War Veteran, served as a member of the VFW Post 3319 of Kaukauna, and 66 proud years with the American Legion Post 258 in Little Chute. He was Commissioner, State Vice Commissioner, District Commander and Post Commander during his years with the American Legion. He looked forward to all of the meetings and playing cards after with the guys. Bill met many people and made numerous friends while he ran and served his community for eight years as an alderman for the City of Kaukauna and another eight years with the Wisconsin State Assembly. Bill was always working to improve the quality of life for the voters of the 5th District while serving on a variety of committees. Bill is survived by his children: Leanne (Kevin) Fiestadt, Lisa Harvey, Lezlie (David) Meehl, David (Eileen) Vander Loop and Jana (Kim Thompson) Vander Loop; grandchildren: Brett (Jess) Fiestadt, Katie (Kyle) Vander Loop, Taylor Fiestadt, Connor Fiestadt, Paige Fiestadt, Dana (Chad) Lorrigan, Jen (fiancé, Jason Verbeten) Harvey, Leah Harvey, Craig (Samantha) Harvey, Lauren (Brian) Van Stiphout, Nicole (Ian) Pockat, Emma Meehl, Stephanie Hunke and Phillip Hunke; great-grandchildren: Chase, Gabe, Boone, Tyson, Beau, Tucker, Peyton, Paisley, Rowan, Colin and two on the way; loving partner: Dot Schmidt; brother: Ray (Sandy) Vander Loop, in-laws: Barb Vander Loop and Paul (Jeanne) Killian; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Bill was preceded in death by his wife: Joyce; granddaughter: Jacqueline Meehl; parents: Peter and Emma Vander Loop; siblings: Bob (Jean) Vander Loop, Gene Vander Loop and Bernice (Jerry) Ashauer; father and mother-in-law: Henry and Susan Killian. Visitation is this morning (Jan. 5) at St. Katharine Drexel Parish – St. Mary Church, 119 W. 7th St., from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11 a.m. Full Military Honors will be performed after the Mass.
