Richard Weber Helf - “Dick” - Age 93, a resident of Care Partners of Kaukauna passed away on March 2, 2022. Dick was born in Kaukauna on Aug. 25, 1928, and remained a lifelong resident. He met the love of his life, Isabelle (Todd) in Chicago, where they both attended school. They were married on Dec. 30, 1950. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in WWII in Korea. He spent the majority of his working career as a salesman. Dick strongly believed in civil service and taking an active role in his community. He served as Kaukauna city alderman and as president of the common council, Outagamie County Supervisor, where he had an integral role in developing Highway CE and president of the first Parent/Teacher Association for Kaukauna schools. He was active in many roles in his church, Immanuel United Church of Christ. One longtime role he took on was being the manager of both Union and Kelso cemeteries. Over the years he was an active member of the Moose Lodge, VFW, Freemasons and Elks. He was an active blood donor for the American Red Cross, donating many gallons of life saving blood. In later years he enjoyed playing cards and going to sign in at many local bars to see friends and drink his Diet Pepsi. He is survived by his five children: David (Pat) of Menasha, Richard (Terry) of Silver Cliff, Greg (Jann) of Kaukauna, Carol Stover (Ward) of Columbiaville, Mich., Wendy Hofer (Jon) of Farmington, Conn.; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers: Gerald and Thomas (Judy), and sister: Nancy Peterson. The family will forever remember the loving care Dick “Grandpa” received by the staff of Care Partners and St. Croix Hospice; they are truly angels on earth. They would also like to thank Knox Johnson for being such a good friend, who continued to bring him his favorite lunch during his time at Care Partners, and a special thank you to his long time and ever helpful neighbors, Scott, Jackie and Jason. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 510 Sullivan Ave., Kaukauna. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. For online condolences, please visit www.verkuilenfh.com
