LaVonne Luckow

LaVonne Luckow - Age 91, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. LaVonne was born Nov. 30, 1930, in Kaukauna to the late Oscar and Sadie (Engle) Stokes. She was united in marriage on June 6, 1953, to Leslie Luckow. They shared 60 years together, with Leslie passing away in 2014. LaVonne loved talking about her life growing up in Kaukauna with her siblings. She said they were fortunate and had a good life. The family ran a grocery store and were well known in the community. After achieving her degree in elementary teaching, LaVonne taught for 10 years in the rural areas of Clayton, Center, Brillion and Forest Junction. They were one-room schoolhouses and she taught multiple grade levels. She would then dedicate her life to working on the family dairy farm that Leslie’s parents ran. They did this for many years before they retired from farming and moved to Appleton, after which they participated in many flea markets. LaVonne is survived by her sister: Marguerite (Wes) Bevers, Appleton; brother: Richard Stokes, Kaukauna; nephews: Jim (Peggy) Bevers, Tom (Sharon Auden) Bevers, all of Appleton; and niece: Sue (Bill) Gloede, Oshkosh. She was precede in death by her parents: Oscar and Sadie Stokes; her husband: Leslie; her father and mother-in-law: George and Martha Luckow; her brother: Kenneth Stokes, his wife Annlier (Weiner); nephew: Mark Stokes; her brothers and sisters-in-law: Anna (Ebner) Schubring, Ida (Bernard) Leigh, Erna (Elden) Schnell and Elmer and Franklin Luckow. “Enjoy the heavenly peace you so deserve LaVonne Rose”
