Alma Vanevenhoven

Alma Margaret Vanevenhoven - (VanAsten) - Age 97, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022, surrounded by her family after a brief illness. She was born March 20, 1925, daughter of Henry and Caroline (Daul) VanAsten. She graduated from St. Nicholas Grade School and attended Freedom High School. She was married to Orville on Oct. 23, 1947, at St. Nicholas Church in Freedom. They were married 63 years. She is survived by three daughters and five sons: Joyce (Pete) VanGroll, Wayne (Diane) Vanevenhoven, Leon Vanevenhoven, Dennis Vanevenhoven, Don (Judy) Vanevenhoven, Jane (Jim) Heiting, Bill (Sue) Vanevenhoven, and Joan (Jeff) Rueden. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law: Marian VanAsten. Alma was preceded in death by her husband: Orville in 2011, one grandson: Grant; her siblings: Blance (Ed) VanHandel, Martin (Josephine) VanAsten, Bill VanAsten, Mary (Leo) VanderHeiden, Josephine (Leo) Micke, Rose (Joe) VanderHeiden; and two infant brothers: Raymond and Clarence. Also prceeding Alma in death were her in-laws: Angeline (Bill) VandenHeuvel, Ervin (Martha) Vanevenhoven, Henry (Harriet) Vanevenhoven, Arthur (Nellie) Vanevenhoven, Lillian (Martin) Thyssen, Howard Vanevenhoven, Francis (Bill) Vissers, Marion (Nick) Kavanaugh, Ray (Rita) Vanevenhoven, Ralph (Angeline) Vanevenhoven, Evelyn (Jim) Hermes; and infant sister: Rosemary. Alma was always proud of her beautiful flowers and big garden. She enjoyed sewing, canning, traveling and being with her family. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her pride and joy. Alma, along with her husband Orville owned and operated Vanevenhoven's Dairy. She was a quiet person with a strong faith. She was always close to her rosary and prayer book. Our family would like to extend gratitude to Drs. Jack Meyer and Jessica Peterson and the care and compassion from Compassus staff for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Holy Cross Catholic Parish in Kaukauna.
