Alice Hermus

Alice Hermus - Age 94, completed her life's journey on Feb. 10, 2023, at St. Paul's in Kaukauna surrounded by her family. Honey was born July 6, 1928, in Little Chute, the 11th of 13 children of Henry and Bertha (Driessen) Winius. In May of 1948, she married the love of her life, Johnny Hermus, and they started their family in Kimberly. Johnny sadly passed away while they were vacationing in Arizona on March 31, 1995. Honey is survived by her children: Jim (finace Patti), Jeff (Rose), Sue (Terry) Jansen, Ron (Susan), Rick (Cheryl), Ken (Nora), Greg (Debra), Russ (Amy) and Terry (Kate) and son-in-law: Joe VerVoort; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren (we are still working on more); her younger brothers: Les and Hank Winius; her brother and sister-in-law: Dave Verhagen and Jeannie Hermus; as well as numerous nices, nephews, other extended relatives and dear friends.  Honey was preceded in death by her husband: Johnny; her daughter: Sandy; her daughter-in-law: Vicki; and infant son: Joseph. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Bill (Pearl) Winius, Ann (Joe) Derks, Martha (Joe) Haupt, Albert Winius, Harriet (Bob) Masch, Agnes (Len) Sporakowski, Joe (Anna Mae) Winius, Elma (Gil) Dorschner, Ray (Elaine) Winius, and Harold (Izzie) Winius; and her brothers and sisters-in-law: Casey (Betty) Hermus, Sister Jane (O.S.F.), Jane (Joe) Van Hout, Rudy Hermus, and Margaret Verhagen.  Mom and dad's early days together were filled with a deck of cards and a few beers with friends. That only changed by the size of the group over time. Their time at the cabin on Chute Pond was very special to them and the family. Mom spent her early married life raising her 10 children. Summers were camping trips (yes, 10 kids in an old army tent) with friends and family. She later enjoyed volleyball, golf, bowling, bean bags, and horseshoes, and she was pretty good at all of them. Her gambling trips with friends always yielded winnings??? Sheepshead, cribbage and bridge were always played when more than two people were around. Puzzles were casually enjoyed at both Hallmark and St. Paul's. Mom volunteered her time at Holy Name serving funerals and was a proud election worker.  A celebration of life Mass will be held for Honey on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Name site, 620 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly, with vistiaion from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Paul's for their tremendous compassion and love for mom, especially Sharri Myers, Hospice Nurse Amber, and Sisters Delores and Maria. Mom loved her flowers, so bring 'em on!
