Chris Van Asten

Chris M. Van AstenAge 41, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023. He was born on June 5, 1981. Chris was a loving son, brother, and uncle who was taken from us way too soon. Chris always loved the outdoors and had a passion and gift for construction. He built his first home by the age of 18. His kind soul was felt by so many. He was currently employed at the Combined Locks Mill and resided in Little Chute. Our hearts are broken. He will be greatly missed by so many. May he rest in peace until we meet again. Chris is survived by his parents: Steve “Sparky” (Sandy) Van Asten and Patricia (David) Coonen; his sister: Jenny (Ryan) Roth; his nieces and nephew: Addie, Gabby, and Burke; step sisters: Samantha Kerswill and Jenna (Chris) Schmidt; grandparents: Donna Van Asten and Jeanette Coonen; aunts and uncles: Jeff (Diane) Van Asten, Randy (Jan) Van Asten, Tom (Sue) Van Asten, Kim (Scott) Ryan, Scott (Sherry) Van Asten, Charles Van Asten, Jan Biese, Margaret (Larry) Lacosse, Cheryl (Ken) Iverson, Tom Biese, and Joe Biese; as well as special family friend, Mary Jo Thies. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Carl Van Asten, Cyril Biese, Geraldine Coenen, and Arnold Coonen. A memorial service for Chris will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, at Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home-Kaukauna location, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna.
