Post 258 celebrates 100th anniversary

It was two years late but American Legion Post 258 from Little Chute celebrated its 100th anniversary Friday night at Colonial House in Freedom.
Delayed two years by COVID-19, the celebration included patriotic music by the Rocke family as well as several speeches, led by Commander Marty Huss.

Kaukauna Utilities implementing water treatment change in May

The Kaukauna Utilities Water Department will implement a new and improved water treatment method by changing the chemical used in the water treatment process from sodium silicate to a polyphosphate ortho blend. The process of this chemical switchover will begin on Monday, May 16.

The Kimberly Village Board last week endorsed the Kimberly Water Commission’s plan to paint water tower No. 1 located at the street department and water tower No. 2 at Memorial Park, both in 2023.

Little Chute explores expanding scope of Buchanan Road paving project


Submitted photo — The family of the late Al Zierler attended last week’s Little Chute Village Board meeting to posthumously accept the annual Robert A. Nechodom Good Citizenship Award. Among other things, Zierler was a founding member of Cheesefest, which has generated tens of thousands of dollars of funds for village causes.
Members of the Little Chute Village Board may take advantage of opportunity knocking to expand the village’s portion of a proposed road paving project.

Despite living in an era of rising interest rates and steady inflation, Kaukauna elected and administrative officials found they are doing well despite the current challenges.
That positive information came from financial consultant Jeff Belongia of HSE during the April 19 council session.

Roundabout coming to Vandenbroek


WisDOT illustration — Construction begins April 25 on a new roundabout at the intersection of Highway 55 and Highway JJ. There will be a full road closure at this intersection until approx. Aug. 10. The posted detour is I-41 to Highway N to Highway UU. Locals may find better routes.
