Los Angeles Rams rookie guard and Kimberly native Logan Bruss is out for the season with a torn ACL and MCL. The former Wisconsin Badger suffered the injuries in a preseason game against the Texans. Bruss was selected by the Rams in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

I-41 southbound closed starting September 1

Repair plans for the County Road CC/Rose Hill Road bridge over I-41 in the village of Little Chute begin tomorrow according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northeast Region. An over-height vehicle struck the bridge on Aug. 3, damaging a girder of the structure.

East Wisconsin Savings Bank merging with Minnesota institution, will keep name


Brian Roebke photo — East Wisconsin Savings Bank is merging with Lake City Federal Bank, a mutual institution located in Lake City, Minn. The merged company, headquartered in Kaukauna, will have the East Wisconsin name.
East Wisconsin Savings Bank, a mutually owned institution located in Kaukauna, and Lake City Federal Bank, a mutual institution located in Lake City, Minn., have announced plans to merge into a single financial institution.

Bossert receives replica home from friend


Submitted photo — Ellen Scheibe purchased a “dollhouse” home online that looked similar to Mary (Runte) Bossert’s family home and altered it to look more like the home on Wilson Street that’s 100 years old.
Mary (Runte) Bossert is now residing at Care Partners, but she lovingly reminisces about a very special home on Wilson Street, so familiar to many Kaukauna residents, and those who have visited White City Park over the years.

Kaukauna swimming pool renovation may include several funding sources


Daniel Schoettler photo — Jodi Sweeney of the Sweeney Group, a business that studies funding projects, suggested Kaukauna could create a city-wide effort like “Forward Neenah” that deals with important city efforts and brings together residents and businesses to fund improvements at the Kaukauna Swimming Pool. The funding effort could offer current and former residents a place to donate funds to the city while also creating a source of funding for a number of community projects.

The Kimberly Papermakers golf team still aims at being one of the top teams in the Fox Valley Association this season despite having a young team. The Papermakers bring back four of their top six girls  from last season.

Kirchner is Schut King


Submitted photo — Matt Kirchner is the 173rd Hollandtown Schut King, pictured with his wife, and queen, Olivia Kirchner. There were 52 shooters in the event, held at Triple J Wing & Clay in Brillion, with 1,247 shots fired in 23 rounds of shooting. Kaitlin Demoske shot the head, Carl Bowers Jr. got the tail for the second consecutive year, and wings were shot by Brandon Lamers and Kevin Bowers.

Kimberly School Board approves increasing space for 4K Literacy Center

The 4K Center for Literacy in the Kimberly Area School District will be getting more space. The board looked at options at last week’s meeting, including renovating the current location, building a new facility, and expanding at a current facility.
