Kaukauna girls lose first three games of 2020

The Kaukauna girls’ basketball team began the season 3-0, but fell to 3-2 after losing to Appleton East and Hortonville — two of the Fox Valley Association favorites — in back-to-back games this week Tuesday and Friday.

Little Chute's Stevens named second-team all-conference

Little Chute sophomore Monica Stevens was named to the North Eastern Conference’s Second-Team All-Conference squad for the 2020 season. Stevens led the Mustangs in kills this past fall with 99 and blocks with 42 and was second on the team in aces.

Schalow gets 500th career victory

Not only did Kaukauna beat Appleton North 73-55 in Thursday’s season-opening Fox Valley Association game, the team got Coach Mike Schalow his 500th career win.

Along the way the Marshfield and UW-La Crosse graduate coached at Leland and Dakota high schools in Illinois and now 26 years at Kaukauna.

The Little Chute boys’ basketball team began the year with a 60-53 home loss against West De Pere Tuesday night, but responded quickly three nights later, winning its first North Eastern Conference matchup of the season 42-30 over Clintonville.

The Maker girls faced their stiffest test of the early season last Tuesday night as they welcomed Fox Valley Association rival Hortonville, and Kimberly passed with flying colors, using a dominant defense to take care of the Polar Bears 61-56 before destroying Fond du Lac Friday night and winning at Notre Dame on Saturday.

Kimberly boys begin season with road rout before win over Oshkosh West

The Papermaker boys were expected to have a strong defense this season, and that certainly was the case Friday night in the team’s season opener, but it was the offense that put on a show as Kimberly hit the century mark, beating Fond du Lac on the road 105-65 to begin the year.
