Kimberly boys begin season with road rout before win over Oshkosh West

The Papermaker boys were expected to have a strong defense this season, and that certainly was the case Friday night in the team’s season opener, but it was the offense that put on a show as Kimberly hit the century mark, beating Fond du Lac on the road 105-65 to begin the year.

The Kimberly girls’ basketball team got its season off to a quick start last week, crushing Fox Valley Association foe Appleton North 83-25 at home before winning handily again in a non-conference matchup with Wisconsin Rapids on Friday night, 78-49.

Senior Tate Huss was named the North Eastern Conference’s Defensive Back of the Year in 2020, leading the way for four Little Chute players who were named to the NEC’s First-Team All-Conference squads.

Huss was a unanimous selection on defense and as a wide receiver on offense.

Senior Chloe Van Zeeland scored 16 points in the first half and added 18 more in the second, including her 1,000th at Kaukauna, as the Ghosts’ girls pulled away for a 69-53 win at home over Appleton West to begin the season 1-0.
