Kimberly girls rally in second half to beat Ghosts

Coming into last Tuesday night’s game, the Kimberly girls’ basketball team was unbeaten at 7-0 and was atop the Fox Valley Association standings at 5-0. The Papermakers were outscoring their opponents by an averaging of 35.8 points per game.

The Papermakers’ offense was the best in the state heading into Friday night’s home game against Neenah.

Kimberly had scored 103 points or more three times in its first four games, including a 103-64 win at Kaukauna last Tuesday night.

Ghosts lose lead, game to Oshkosh North on buzzer beater

OSHKOSH — Kaukauna’s loss boiled down to two things in its 74-73 loss to Oshkosh North Friday night: inexperience and an official’s call at the buzzer.

The Ghosts had a 13-point lead but allowed the Spartans to have a chance to win in their final possession by making some crucial mistakes.

Kaukauna girls follow Kimberly loss with 2-1 weekend

The Kaukauna girls moved back above .500 overall and in the Fox Valley Association this past weekend with a win over Oshkosh North Thursday night before playing in the Niki Doedens Holiday Tournament in Cedarburg Friday and Saturday, coming away with a win over the host Saturday after a loss against Slinger Friday night.

Kaukauna wrestling cruises to 62-point win at Oshkosh West

The Kaukauna wrestling team moved to 3-0 Saturday morning on the road at Oshkosh West, making quick work of the Wildcats in a 68-6 win.

The Ghosts began the dual with six pins in the first eight matches, all Kaukauna wins, as the team built a 44-0 lead. The Ghosts’ only two losses on the day came in decisions at 106 and 126 pounds.

Stars fall at Homestead in 5-4 heartbreaker

The Fox Cities Stars boys’ hockey team came as close to a win as it has so far early in the year, falling 5-4 on the road at Homestead in overtime Saturday.

The loss drops the Stars’ record to 0-6 so far in 2020.

Little Chute wrestling begins season with road win

Despite fielding just nine wrestlers in its season opener against Fox Valley Lutheran, the Mustangs wrestling team began its season 1-0 with a 48-30 road win over the Foxes.

The dual began at 138 pounds as returning state-qualifier Noah Kilgas made easy work of FVL’s Blake Maxwell, pinning him in just 30 seconds.
