William F. Fischer - “Bill/Monk” - Age 72, died Saturday, March 23, 2024, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton following a short battle with his health. He was born in Kaukauna on Jan. 14, 1952, to the late Raymond and Janet (Marx) Fischer. On Nov. 25, 1978, Bill married the love of his life, Dolly (Wakershauser), at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kaukauna. Bill worked for Gustman’s, then Giddings & Lewis until it closed, then at AC Compressor and GE doing mechanical drafting. Since being retired he has enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, camping, Thursday night cards and playing guitar at church and for fun with his friends. He graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1970 and Fox Valley Technical College in 1988 with a degree in electronic technology and again in 1997 with a degree in mechanical design where he then earned the honor of becoming part of the Phi Theta Kappa Society. Bill is survived by his wife of 45 years: Dolly; his two children: Joe (Amie), of Kaukauna; and Heather Leaman, of Kaukauna; and his grandchildren: Katelyn, Natalee, Makenna, Quinn, Reid, and Reece. He is further survived by his siblings: Betty (John) Borree, Mary (Mark) Steffensen, Margie (Ken) Reinholz, and Carole (Marty) Surman; his sister-in-law: Val Fischer; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his brothers: Charlie Fischer and Gerald Fischer. Visitation for Bill will be held April 20 at O’CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E.
