Roy Schoen

Roy Jonathan Schoen - Age 62, passed away peacefully with family members by his side on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona. He was born on Nov. 17, 1962, in Kaukauna. Roy had fond memories of growing up in Kaukauna. He liked the feeling of community that Kaukauna has. After graduating from Kaukauna High School in June of 1981, Roy joined the Army where he reached the rank of Master Sargent. Among the places he served was South Korea, the Pacific Joint Command in Hawaii, and at the Pentagon in Washington D.C., where he worked for the Joint Chief of Staff. Due to health issues, he retired from the Army in 2007, Roy was a decorated soldier and very proud of his service. Some of the medals he achieved are: Defense Meritorious Service, Meritorious Service, Joint Service Commendation, Army Commendation, Joint Service Achievement, Army Achievement, Joint Meritorious, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, National Defense Service, Global War on Terrorism Service, and his Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge. After retirement, Roy moved to the warmer climate of Arizona where he spent time with family and friends, playing cards, and attending concerts. In the summer months he returned to Kaukauna, where he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his parents. Roy is survived by his children: Monique Schoen (Demitrius Johnson) and their daughter: Angelique, Natasha (Jacob) McMutrey and their daughter: Charlotte, Roy (Lakeesha) Schoen, and their mother: UiSun Choi. He is further survived by his siblings: Dave Schoen, Lee Ann (Bob) Jackels, Evelyn Morser, Brenda (Bill) Vande Wettering, and Jennifer (Aaron) LaVoy. Roy is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and a special nephew: Ben Bay. He was preceded in death by his parents: Ed and Judith Sasnowski, his nephew: Rob Jackels, his sister-in-law: Karen Coffey, his grandparents: Joseph and Germaine Alberts, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Roy’s family would like to thank the VA Hospital in Tucson for their kindness, care, and compassion. A private family burial will take place at a later date. A celebration of Roy’s life will be held this summer in Kaukauna.
