It took a while for it to happen, but eventually at the Kaukauna Alumni Foundation’s 88th annual rally on June 15 the winner of this year’s well-thought of Alumni Award winner was announced by Foundation President Kelly Kelly as Van Abel’s of Hollandtown.

Maranda Wendel made history June 10 when she was sworn in as the first female commander in the 104-year history of American Legion Post 258 in Little Chute. 
The former combat medic who served in Iraq took the reins from James Strong, who led the post during the past year.

Last Thursday was a big day in the life of Fr. Jim Vanden Hogen as he celebrated 60 years of the priesthood. Much of that time was spent at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Parish in Little Chute, just across the Fox River from his childhood home in Kimberly.
