Little Chute’s Hammen named Honorable Mention All-State

Little Chute senior Karsen Hammen was named to the 2020 Honorable Mention All-State Team by the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin.

Hammen was also named to the North Eastern Conference First-Team All-Conference squad last month after shooting an 88 to finish fifth overall at the conference meet.

Behind another exceptional finish from senior Anna Fauske, who finished fourth overall with a time of 18 minutes, 23 seconds, the Kaukauna girls won the first cross country title in school history — boys or girls — beating second-place Whitefish Bay by seven points Saturday at the WIAA Division 1 State Cross Country Championships.

Riley Huss once again paced the Little Chute boys’ cross country team, this time at the 2020 state meet as he finished ninth overall with a time of 16 minutes, 51 seconds, helping the Mustangs to a fifth-place finish Saturday at Colby High School, just three points behind fourth-place Valders and nine behind third-place Freedom.

WIAA examines study that concludes high school sports has not led to COVID-19 increase

A study conducted by the Department of Orthopedics & Rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health concluded participation in high school sports in Wisconsin has not led to an increase in COVID-19 infections among high school student-athletes.
