For the first time in school history, the Kimberly girls’ tennis team is sending five players to state as the Papermakers’ No.

Note: After this article was written, Maddie Kiley shot a 44 on day one of the state tournament, and on day two, finished with a 48 on the front nine and a 46 on the back nine to finish in a tie for 25th overall (out of 52 girls) with a 138. 

Despite allowing a touchdown late in the first half to lose the lead, Kaukauna played its best football coming out of halftime Friday night.

Back-to-back touchdown drives by the offense and two three-and-outs forced by the defense allowed the Ghosts to take control against host Plymouth on the way to a 27-19 victory.

Despite a disappointing 2-2 tie last Thursday night against Shawano, which saw a 2-0 lead disappear in the final few minutes, the Kaukauna boys’ soccer team has shown drastic improvements since the middle of the season.

The Kaukauna girls’ volleyball team had two games scheduled against the top two ranked teams in the state last week and were unable to pull off either upset, falling at home to No. 1-ranked Waterloo on Tuesday and to No. 2 Howards Grove Thursday.

For the first time this season, the Kaukauna boys’ and girls’ cross country teams attended an invite rather than facing off in a simple dual against a familiar Fox Valley Association team.

After finishing second at a Division 1 regional at Washington County Golf Course two weeks ago, the Kaukauna girls’ golf team had completed Co-Head Coach Pete Benson’s season-long goal: to reach sectionals.

The Kaukauna girls’ volleyball team played four matches last week that all went to the wire, starting with a 3-2 loss at home to Oconto on Monday and ending with another five-set loss, this time against Randolph, bookending wins against Howards Grove and Mosinee, both also in five sets.

In week one, it was Little Chute’s ground game that carried the Mustangs to a win as Nolan Lamers ran the ball 17 times for 88 yards and scored three touchdowns in a 28-13 win over Fox Valley Lutheran.

The Little Chute girls’ golf team finished third at its regional last week, shooting a 394 at the Broadlands Golf Club in North Prairie, good for third place in its regional and a spot at sectionals yesterday held at Ives Grove Golf Course in Sturtevant.
