HORTONVILLE — Two Kimberly Papermaker wrestlers — Karsen Otis and Tyson Peach — are headed to Madison for this year’s WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament at the Kohl Center at UW-Madison after placing in the top two at Saturday’s Division 1 sectional at Hortonville High School.
Even without its head coach, the Kimberly boys’ basketball cruised past another Fox Valley Association opponent.
Host Appleton North stayed within striking distance midway through the second half of their game on Friday, but a 17-2 run by Kimberly helped the Papermakers pull off an 84-56 victory.

Kaukauna’s Judah Hammen (38-9) won the 160-lb. weight class with a 12-2 major decision over Cole Verhyen of Appleton North at Saturday’s WIAA Division 1 Individual Wrestling Sectional at Hortonville.
HORTONVILLE — Five sectional champions and two sectional runners up from Kaukauna travel to Madison for this year’s WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament at the Kohl Center at UW-Madison.
Division 1 preliminaries begin Thursday at 3 p.m., with quarterfinals beginning approximately 5:15 p.m.
Playing without its best player, Kade Van Asten, the Little Chute boys basketball team lost three games last week but were “oh, so close” in all three.

Two weeks ago when Kaukauna hosted Fond du Lac, Kaukauna’s Jon O’Neill scored 35 points and grabbed 30 rebounds, while Fondy’s Jamariea Dalton scored 50 points in an 87-79 Kaukauna win.
It was pretty apt it was Senior Night for the Kimberly girls’ basketball team.
Led by seniors Ali Sprangers and Emma Kilpatrick, the Papermakers built a 31-point first-half lead en route to a 75-37 victory over Appleton West in a Fox Valley Association game on Friday, Feb. 11.
When Steve Jones stepped down as Kimberly football coach in December, one of the people he called right away was De Pere football coach Chad Michalkiewicz.
Over the last seven to eight years, the two successful, leadership-based coaches formed a friendship.
Kimberly finished in third place with 185 points behind Kaukauna (238) and Neenah (228) at Saturday’s WIAA Division 1 regional tournament held at Hortonville High School.
With the top four placers from regionals advancing, Kimberly sends nine young men to Saturday’s sectional meet also held at Hortonville.
