Kimberly finished in third place with 185 points behind Kaukauna (238) and Neenah (228) at Saturday’s WIAA Division 1 regional tournament held at Hortonville High School.
With the top four placers from regionals advancing, Kimberly sends nine young men to Saturday’s sectional meet also held at Hortonville.
The lone champion to emerge from six guys in the championship matches was Karsen Otis at 152. Otis (35-4) won by a tech fall over Nick Novak (Neenah), 17-1, for the regional title. He started the day with a 48-second pin of
Zander Flemal (Appleton East) and advanced through the semifinal match with a 32-second pin of Chris Meyer (Appleton West).
At 126, Tyson Peach (35-5) was pinned in 2:34 by Bryan Winans (Kaukauna), then held of his wrestleback opponent, Jayden Sheppard (Neenah) with a 6-0 decision.
Tanner Hart (30-12) lost his 145 lb. title match in tough fashion, a 3-1 sudden victory to Austin Lewis (Neenah).
Hart won his quarterfinal match with a 1:08 pin of Braden Lewis (Appleton North) and his semifinal match, 12-6 over Grant Harris (Hortonville).
Blake Barry (28-9) lost a 10-0 major decision to Drew Wendzicki (Kaukauna) at 182 lbs. Berry earned pins over
Brett Dietzlie (Appleton East) in 1:00 and Aidan Roh in 3:19 to get to his match with Wendzicki.
Allen Leitner (29-10) lost a 4-3 decision to Caleb Letson (Neenah) for first place, then won a sudden victory match over Jordan Loose (Kaukauna) at 220 lbs., 6-4, to retain second place.
At 106, Cameron Perkovich (25-14) placed third by beating Michael Posorski (Kaukauna) but was beaten in the wrestleback for second place by Tristin Ellerman (Horton-ville), who got a 52-second pin.
Aiden Benbrooks (31-11) won by fall at 160 over Carter Cittadino (Appleton West) in 49 seconds.
At 170, Brody Beck lost the title match to Eli Gast (Neenah) 3-2, then lost a wrestleback, getting pinned in 3:27 by Blake Miller (Appleton North).
Aiden Fonder (32-9) placed fourth at 120. He lost the third-place match 7-0 to Nolan Skebba (Hortonville), then pinned Jackson Kolasinski (Appleton North) in 3:25 to hold onto fourth.
Not advancing to sectionals were James Thao (14-9) at 113, Logan Hubert (11-21) at 132, Noble Benbrooks (0-5) at 138, Ike Mischka (19-15) at 195, and Blaike Loker (22-17) at 285.
