Richard L. Diedrich - “Dick”

Age 84, died on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, at his home. Richard L. Diedrich was born on Dec. 14, 1940, in Kaukauna to Mathias and Mercedes Diedrich. He first served as a priest for several years in the Green Bay Diocese. After leaving the priesthood, he met and married Dolores (Dee) Shultz, a widow with five children. Dolores passed away after 17 years of marriage. Dick later married a lifelong friend, Jeanne, who had two daughters: Melissa Jean and Sara Lynne. He was a devoted husband and father, loving his family unconditionally. Dick built his career as executive director of the Northeastern Great Lakes Chapter of the March of Dimes. With the dedication of countless volunteers and the steadfast support of his right-hand colleague, Tammy DeJardin, millions of dollars were raised to further the mission of the organization. This work gave Dick great purpose, enabling him to live out his calling to help others. Quiet and kindhearted, Dick treasured his family above all. His happiest moments were those spent with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. He also enjoyed collecting — particularly coins — a hobby that reflected his patient and thoughtful nature. He is survived by his beloved wife: Jeanne; daughters: Melissa Jean (Corey) Olmsted and Sara Lynne Van Klooster; grandchildren: Madysen Jean (Trevor) LeRoy, Maxwell James Thayse, Rex Diedrich Van Klooster, and Nori Melissa Van Klooster; and great-grandson: Jaxon James LeRoy. He is survived by his brother: Matheu (Linda) Diedrich; sister: Mary (Henry) Kreutzberg; sister-in-law: Irene Diedrich; and brother-in-law: Gary (Diane) Johnson. His funeral Mass will be held Sept. 16 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Green Bay, with Rev. Don Everts officiating. Dick will be laid to rest at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
