We are writing concerning the beautiful bronze galloping ghost that is placed in front of Kaukauna High School.

In the soon-to-be discussion between the Kaukauna High School Board and the Civic Engagement class of KHS over the Galloping Ghost Statue, the facts of the past matter less than how some members of our community feel about ourselves and our community.

We are writing in support of the recent letter to the Times-Villager from Ellyn Verbeten Sachs, in which she urges denial of a request that the galloping ghost statue adjacent to the main entrance of Kaukauna High School be removed.

It’s easy to be discouraged these days, as social media voices rage on and we’re weighed down by the never-ending news about COVID. But, today — for the Kaukauna Area School District — I ask that you see the good. It exists.

And it most certainly abounds within our district.

I had the pleasure of getting a tour of the City of Kaukauna’s remodeled street department facilities last week and came away impressed, not only with that complex but of the city facilities in total.
