After months of cost-cutting measures to deal with a possible monetary shortfall for the 2023-24 school budget, the Kaukauna Area School District’s board of education heard some breaking news last Monday evening from Finance Officer Bob Schafer.

The Little Chute School Board last week approved increasing the .5 special education teacher in early childhood to a full time position. The position serves students’ needs in early childhood through second grade.

The Little Chute School Board approved the hiring of Little Chute High School graduate, Will Vanden Heuvel as high school technology and engineering teacher at last week’s meeting.

Nels Lawrence, soon to be retiring after 27 years with the Kaukauna Area School District, gave the district’s technology and engineering report at last week’s board of education meeting, receiving a standing ovation before he even started his presentation.

For the first time in several years, there is a new member to the Kimberly school board. At their April 24 meeting, Kell Bales joined the board as its newest member.

About 220 people spent 12 hours in close quarters last week to set the course for the future of the Kaukau-   na Area School District during the Future Strong Summit held Wed-nesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
