When the Kimberly Village Board last week approved a $319.17 payment to support the Highway CE pedestrian tunnel remediation, they also acknowledged community support for a project that erased the defacement from vandals.
While village residents and members of the Sherwood Village Board were clear about the directions they did not want a proposed regional trail to take through the village during earlier discussions this spring and summer they have not heard a lot of details about overall trail plans.

A contractor surprised both the village engineers and local businesses by showing up on a recent morning ready to work on Main Street without the usual advance notice for the downtown crosswalks and turn lane repair project. Work is estimated to continue until the end of October.

With a second look at the fiber optic network known as the Little Chute Community Access Network, the village board approved previous village plans to expand the fiber optic network following previously outlined uses. The action came at their Sept. 21 meeting.
The future of the Kaukauna swimming pool now is officially linked to a renovation that is currently planned for this time in 2023 with dedication of the renewed pool complex tentatively set for some time in 2024.

Efficiencies in time, money and labor as well as the ability to improve the look of the core business areas downtown and some residential terraces in city neighborhoods were the result of a second look by city department heads regarding proposed changes in city refuse pickup practices.

Gene Wall, a U.S. Air Force Retired Col. from Little Chute, told a stirring story at the Golf with a Vet dinner at Van Abel’s of Hollandtown about Ken Stumpf of Menasha, who passed away in April.
With the reality of the project payment coming soon, the Sherwood Village Board voted 4-3 at their Sept. 12 meeting to dip into funding for the proposed Condon Road extension to pay for the recent State Park Road culvert project.
