Both of Little Chute’s track and field teams won last weekend at the Gary Reybrock Invitational. The boys scored 126.5 points and were over a point ahead of Sheboygan North, while the girls scored 161 points and were 20 points ahead of Fox Valley Lutheran.
The UW-Green Bay Phoenix women’s soccer program will definitely have their Papermakers representation next year. The team will add Abby Lom and Senah Hanes to the mix next year after adding Allison Steeno to the team this year.
Kara Verstegen and Cooper Effa led the way last week for the Little Chute Mustangs track and field teams as they ran in a pentangular at Waupaca. Verstegen won the long jump and triple jump, while Effa won both the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles for the Mustangs.
Senior Megan Gehrt play a key role for the Kimberly girls lacrosse team in their home opening win over Sun Prairie last week at Papermaker Stadium. Gehrt scored five goals in Kimberly’s 14-4 win as they earned their first win of the season.
The Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts baseball team held on to two late leads to get in their two wins last week. The Ghosts used late inning scoring to get a win over Fond du Lac and made sure eight runs stood up against Appleton West as the team has started 2-2 on the season.
The Little Chute Mustangs softball team has struggled defensively out of the gate as they have started out with five straight losses to start the season. The Mustangs had six errors in their first five games of play.
Justin Sprangers led the way for the Kaukauna tennis team last week as he notched the team’s lone win in a 6-1 loss to West De Pere on the road. Sprangers won his match in No. 2 singles over Kadyn Shaw in a third set tiebreaker (6-0, 4-6, 10-5).
