Traumatic moments when staff and students watched the Challenger rocket ship, carrying teacher Kristy McCullough, blow up and the airplanes crash into New York’s World Trade Center towers on 9/11 paled compared to the impact of COVID-19 on Little Chute School District students, teachers and administrators.

It’s deja vu again in Kaukauna as the community deals with well-liked Kaukauna High School Principal Corey Baumgartner leaving the position to become superintendent of the Brillion School District effective July 1.

An unusually large crowd of people didn’t go home with what they wanted but did get an olive branch given to them after attending last week’s Kaukauna school board meeting.

Taylor Nowak, daughter of Debra and Tony Nowak, was named Kaukauna Lions Student of the Month for the month of May.

While at KHS, she has enjoyed math the most because there is no interpretation or analysis of what you are doing, it just is. “It is also the same in all countries, which I love,” she said.

Wisconsin Business World —  a program of WMC Foundation —  in partnership with Kwik Trip, announced the winners of the inaugural 2021 Spring Innovation and Production competitions. The two virtual competitions were held statewide for students in grades 6-12. 

Like everything that happened in education this past school year, it wasn’t easy but the Job Exploration and Training partnerships between Kaukauna High School and 11 area businesses were still a success this year, despite precautions that needed to be taken.

Ten area students recently earned scholarships from the BayCare Clinic Foundation.

Students and staff will enter Victor Haen and Electa Quinney elementary schools in Kaukauna this fall through new entrances.

The Little Chute School Board approved recommendations from the administration to continue to follow CDC, Wisconsin Health Service and Outagamie County’s masking guidelines through June 4, when school ends.
