Kimberly High School graduate and Biathlete Paul Schommer qualified for Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 by virtue of his performance at this season’s IBU World Cup events.
Schommer’s teammate, Jake Brown from Saint Paul, Minn. Also qualified for the games.
The Kaukauna wrestling team crossed a state border to participate in one of its biggest tournaments on the calendar and came home with a fifth-place finish at the 2021 Minnesota Christmas Tournament.
The tournament annually features some of the best teams from both Wisconsin and Minnesota.
The Little Chute girls basketball team hosted Oconto Falls last Thursday, but the Panthers took a 25-9 lead into the half and scored 30 more in the final 18 minutes in a 56-21 win.
The Mustangs struggled offensively. They were only able to attempt 20 field goals and went 4-of-13 from the free-throw line.
The Little Chute boys basketball team had its most consistent offensive performance last Tuesday in a home win over Oconto Falls. The Mustangs closed out the week, however, with a road loss to Freedom on Friday.
Led by a stellar defense, the Kimberly girls held a 29-13 lead going into the half. The girls then went on to win 65-48 on the road against rival Kaukauna on Friday night.
The Kimberly and Kaukauna boys played the second game of a Papermakers-Ghosts doubleheader Friday night, and behind an explosive offensive performance, Kimberly rolled to a 97-55 win over Kaukauna.

The Kaukauna boys basketball team had an unfortunate bad break with four games in eight days last week, capped off by a 74-54 loss to Marshfield in the Baird/Gustman Shootout on Saturday night at KHS. The Ghosts played the Tigers without co-captain and star senior guard Chris Morgan, who was home with a high fever.
