Kimberly boys volleyball gets another win over a top 10 team

The Kimberly Papermakers improved to 28-6 overall after last week’s win over No. 10 ranked Madison Memorial. The Papermakers took the match in four sets (25-17, 25-15, 24-26, 25-23) as they headed into a match with Appleton East this week.

Kaukauna’s Sheppard highlights recent area grads at college level

Kaukauna graduate Lily Sheppard helped the UW-Whitewater golf team secure their seventh conference championship in a row last weekend. Sheppard placed third in the three day tournament as she posted 79 scores on the last two days for a total finish of 239.

Julia Gurholt is headed to the state tennis tournament for the third year in a row. The junior went 2-1 at the sectional meet at the Fox Cities Racquet Club last week as the Papermakers took third with 34 points.

Communities rally behind Kaukauna volleyball coach

Despite it being a rivalry week, the Kimberly and Kaukauna communities valued to support a local coach. The Galloping Ghosts volleyball program supported their coach Jodi Matthies last week with a breast cancer awareness game against their crosstown rivals.

The Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts golf team is headed back to state once again. The team finished with a second place score of 336 as they finished seven strokes behind sectional winner Bay Port at High Cliff last week.

The Kimberly vs. Kaukauna rivalry has been mostly dominated by the Papermakers. That changed on Friday night as the Galloping Ghosts secured their first win over the Papermakers since 2003.
