Sprangers wins indoor state championship in shot put

Hunter Sprangers and Sawyer Hanlon headlined the WIAA indoor meet at UW-Whitewater last week. Sprangers won the shot put title with a finish of 62-06.5, while Hanlon took fourth with a throw of 55-08.5.

Three coaches in our coverage area earned coach of the year honors this season. Kaukauna’s Jeff Matczak and Mike Schalow both earned the honors for the Ghosts, while Kimberly’s Dave Lepisto earned the honors in girls basketball.

Kimberly senior Kristin Behnke will join a familiar program for her college track and field career. The senior will join her sister Kayla at the school, but also said that the coaching staff was more of a factor in her commitment to the program.

Six teams punched their ticket to the second round of the 56th annual Holy Cross Men’s Open last weekend. Oak Acre Propeties, Weiner Investment, McCarty Law, U.W. Health, Closed Gyms and DeValk Roofing all got wins during the first weekend of the tournament.
