Tyler Cruse headlined Kimberly’s finishes at the Wickersham Memorial invite prior to the Christmas break. Cruse took third in the 157 lbs. weight class in the invite, while Daniel Grey and James Thao took home fourth place finishes.
The Kaukauna girls basketball team got another stellar scoring effort from Addison Baumgart despite suffering their fifth loss of the season prior to the Christmas break. In the Dec. 20 contest, Baumgart scored 25 points as the Ghosts took a 98-64 loss to Hortonville.
Both of the Kimberly basketball teams got wins over Oshkosh West prior to the Christmas break. The girls used a dominant first half to improve to 7-0 on the season, while the boys also had a strong first half in their win over the Wildcats.
Maddy Schreiber is trying to finish her UW-Green Bay career strong despite suffering a senior season injury of late. The senior has scored almost 1,000 points in her Phoenix career after scoring more than 1,400 in her career as a Papermaker.
There will be a new state involved at this year’s Cheesehead wrestling invite in Kaukauna. Lowell, Mich., joins the invite this year as the annual invite will now have nine teams represented and there are also four or five returning champions from prior Cheesehead invites.
A 13-0 run in the middle of the second half brought the Kaukauna boys basketball team from a one-point deficit to a 12-point advantage, leading the Galloping Ghosts to an 81-73 win over the Hortonville Polar Bears on Parents Night at KHS on Friday, Dec. 20.
As we reach the end of the 2024 year, it is now time to get to our annual All-Area football team. This year’s team will have all four of our area schools as I am adding Wrightstown to the mix this year after their second year in a row getting to Camp Randall.

NEENAH — The Kaukauna boys basketball team’s No. 2 ranking in the state will be shortlived after the Galloping Ghosts, coming off 45- and 52-point victories, fell 66-56 at Neenah on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at Neenah High School.
