RICE LAKE – Kaukauna quarterback Ryan Carrel had a stellar showing despite a season ending road loss in Rice Lake last week. Carrel threw for three touchdowns in Kaukauna’s 30-20 loss in round one of the playoffs.
Kimberly and Kaukauna will once again continue their crosstown boys volleyball rivalry with another matchup this week after playing against each other last week. Both teams earned first round wins and continued the rivalry with a sectional matchup at Kimberly on Tuesday.
The Kimberly girls cross country team is headed back to state after a second place finish at the De Pere sectional on the Shorewood cross country course in Green Bay. The Papermakers took second with 71 points in the meet.
All three phases impacted the game again for the Kimberly Papermakers football program. It didn’t matter if it was special teams, defense or offense as all three helped the team get a 28-21 first round win over Fond du Lac last week.
After getting into the state individual tennis tournament as a wild card, Kimberly junior Elise Schreiber took a loss at last week’s tournament at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison. Schreiber took a loss to Brookfield East’s Lily Sun (4-6, 2-6) in the first round of tournament.
Ashlynn Vande Voort had a double-double during Kaukauna’s home sweep of Oshkosh North last week. The senior had 11 kills and 11 digs as the Galloping Ghosts dominated the first two sets in the win (25-12, 25-12, 26-24).
Kimberly alum Cooper Re had a big week for the UW-Whitewater men’s soccer team last week. The senior scored a hat trick in the first 10 minutes of their 5-1 win over Dubuque last week.
The Kimberly girls volleyball team used a dominating sweep of Hortonville (25-8, 25-10, 25-19) to notch another conference title last week as they won the first two sets by double digits as they ended the regular season with a 28-13 record.
