It was a season of ups and downs as well as great experiences for the Kimberly soccer team as the Papermakers ended their season in the WIAA regionals last week.
Kara Verstegen and Brooke Gloudemans ended their senior seasons with good performances at the net despite a playoff loss to Freedom last week. Both had over five kills in the three set loss (14-25, 18-25, 20-25).
Big runs doomed the Kimberly Papermakers girls volleyball team in their regional final match against Bay Port last Saturday. The Pirates went on multiple three to even six point runs in the match as they handed Kimberly a season ending sweep on the road (20-25, 18-25, 17-25).
The Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts boys volleyball team also secured a spot in sectional play this week. The team used a win over Notre Dame to advance further in the playoffs.
The Kimberly boys volleyball team is sectional final bound this week. The Papermakers added two more wins last week including a playoff win over Appleton East at home.
The Little Chute Mustangs will have three runners at next week’s state cross country meet. The team will have two girls running at state in Ashley Wilson and Sami Miller, while Hayden Carroll is headed to state for the boys team.
One thing is certain about the remainder of Kimberly’s season, regardless of how long it lasts: The Papermakers won’t have to play Appleton North again.
