Kimberly grads Kalli Mau and Mady Pearson are headed to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division 3 volleyball tournament in California. This will be the first time since 2009 that the UW-Oshkosh Titans are headed to the Elite Eight.
We had another successful football season in this area with three area teams (if you count Wrightstown’s state appearance) that made level four playoff appearances this season. That made for some exciting football moments and great individual performances.
Elliana Martin was the high point in the start of the Little Chute girls basketball season last week. Martin scored nine points against Amherst as the Mustangs dropped their first two games of the season last week.
Kaukauna’s Sydney Fauske and Finnley Doriot racked up a couple of notable honors this season. In addition to being homecoming king and queen this year, they were honored with player of the year honors in their respective sports.
Several area high school alumni are starting their school’s paths in the NCAA tournament this week. From football to volleyball, postseason is just getting started for these athletes.
Little Chute junior Ashley Wilson headlined this year’s conference honors for the Mustangs. Wilson earned a first team honor and was runner of the year in the North Eastern Conference this fall.
Kimberly will have yet another Warhawk athlete next year as shot putter Landon Martin has committed to the Division 3 powerhouse. Martin earned several top 20 finishes in the shot put last season and earned top 10 finishes in the discus a year ago for the Papermakers.
RIPON – It took an undefeated team, one that wasn’t challenged all season, and one of the bluest of the state’s blue bloods, to end Kaukauna’s historic season.
And the Ghosts made it a game until the final minute.
SUN PRAIRIE -The Kimberly Papermakers saw their chances of a state title repeat get halted last week against the Marquette Hilltoppers. The Hilltoppers scored the decisive score late in the fourth quarter as they handed Kimberly a 14-7 loss in Level 4 of the WIAA playoffs.
